Punggol Stories at Punggol Regional Library | What to See on Levels 1, 3 and 4

Main entrance to One Punggol community hub in Singapore.

Start at Singaporium on Level 4 of Punggol Regional Library if you have time for just one part of Punggol Stories. The exhibition explores how Punggol changed through its kampongs, coastal leisure, farming and waterways. The library is in One Punggol at 1 Punggol Drive, beside Sam Kee LRT (PW1).

The full trail has three stops. Level 4 presents local history, Level 3 uses Singapore literature, and Level 1 brings poems to life through animation and sound. NLB lists the overall exhibition from 10 am to 9 pm and gives Words That Move a separate 5 pm to 7 pm window. Check current hours and library closures before travelling.

  • Level 4: Singaporium for local history and the Memory Map.
  • Level 3: The Lens of Literature at Sing Lit.
  • Level 1: Words That Move in the Stories Come Alive Room. Check its separate hours.
  • Train: Sam Kee LRT (PW1), beside One Punggol.

Start with the history exhibition on Level 4

At Singaporium, pick one theme that interests your group. The display covers early communities, seaside leisure, farming and the area’s later development. The interactive Memory Map brings together accounts of historical Punggol. Start with one account and compare it with a part of the town you know today.

Main foyer of the One Punggol community hub
Follow the library signs from the hub foyer, then look for Singaporium on Level 4.

For children, choose a simple question such as “What did people come to Punggol to do before the town looked like it does today?” Ask them to point to something in the display that supports the answer. If a relative remembers the area, invite them to add their own recollection and compare the places described.

Add a reading or poetry stop

At Level 3 Sing Lit, The Lens of Literature uses excerpts by Singapore writers to explore change and memory. Pick one short piece and compare the voice of its writer with the way a historical caption tells the story. A poem can help a reader imagine what a move felt like, while an exhibition label can supply dates and context.

At Level 1, Words That Move presents poems with interactive projections, light and sound. NLB lists 5 pm to 7 pm for this component, so plan around it only after checking the current listing. If a child prefers a quieter visit, Level 4 or Level 3 can be the main stop.

Plan a short family visit

For a short outing, visit Singaporium and choose one photo, map or story to discuss. On the way out, let each person describe one change they noticed. This works even if there is only time for one level.

For a longer outing, start at Level 4, move to Level 3 and finish with Level 1 if its session is available. Use the library directory and check whether any room is in use for a programme. If someone is joining later, give them the level and exhibition name.

Keep the Comics & Games Library at Punggol Coast Mall as a separate destination. It is a different venue. If you are combining the two visits, check the transport and hours for each before leaving One Punggol.
