Is National Gallery Singapore Free? | General Admission, Special Exhibitions and Free Spaces

Front façade of National Gallery Singapore

General Admission at National Gallery Singapore is free for Singapore citizens and permanent residents. The standard General Admission price for other nationalities is S$20, with some free and concession categories. Special exhibitions can have separate ticket terms, and several public spaces in the building are free for all visitors.

Decide what you want to see before selecting a ticket. A free General Admission ticket covers the exhibitions listed under that ticket. For a special exhibition, open its own page and check admission for your date. If you only want to explore the public areas, use the Gallery’s current list of spaces you can visit without a ticket.

  • Singapore citizens and PRs: free General Admission.
  • Other nationalities: standard General Admission is S$20, with exceptions and concessions.
  • Special exhibitions: check the named show’s ticket and pricing.
  • Public areas: several spaces are free for all visitors without a ticket.

Who qualifies for free General Admission?

The Gallery lists free General Admission for Singapore citizens and permanent residents. Other free admission categories include children aged six and below, students and teachers currently based in Singapore, and persons with disabilities with one caregiver. Check the Gallery’s eligibility details if your group includes more than one category.

Bring the proof relevant to your ticket and ask a Visitor Services counter about verification. If you are taking an overseas guest, check each person’s eligibility separately. The Gallery’s concession list includes certain children, seniors and overseas students or teachers, subject to verification.

General Admission and special exhibition tickets

General Admission covers selected exhibitions and tours. Look at the exhibition listing rather than assuming that every show uses that ticket. When a named special exhibition is the reason for your trip, read its ticket information and compare it with any combination ticket shown for your date.

For a family or group, list the exhibition first, then check which ticket each person needs. This is useful if one visitor only wants to explore the building while another wants to enter a ticketed show.

Plan a visit using the free public spaces

The Gallery identifies several areas that visitors can enter without a ticket. Examples in its visitor guide include the Keppel Centre for Art Education, the ArchiGallery and the Padang and Coleman Decks. Check the current guide for closures or programme access before treating any one space as your main stop.

For a short visit, choose one public area and one building feature you want to see. Families can look up the Keppel Centre programme first. Visitors interested in the architecture can start with the former civic buildings and use the Gallery map to find the architecture displays.
