Lost Your SEAB Entry Proof Before a GCE Exam? A Private Candidate’s Reprint Checklist

Three learners review open books together at a classroom table, with stacks of textbooks, stationery and a whiteboard in the bright room.

If you have lost your printed GCE Entry Proof, sign in to SEAB’s Candidates Portal and download the current copy, then print it again. SEAB’s 2026 secondary examination booklet tells private candidates to bring a hardcopy Entry Proof and the applicable identification document on each examination day. If the file is unavailable or you cannot sign in, contact SEAB through its official feedback channel promptly.

Use the reprint to check your venue and paper schedule again. Read the centre name, centre or index number, subject and paper code, examination date and time. Verify the document required for identification and check that it matches the details in the Entry Proof. If a discrepancy remains and the paper is imminent, include the date and problem in your enquiry.

  • Sign in to the correct Candidates Portal account.
  • Open the current proof for your examination and paper.
  • Print a legible copy and check the information against your schedule.
  • Pack the original identification required by the instructions.
  • Contact SEAB promptly if you cannot recover the proof or see a discrepancy.

Recover the file before trying to reconstruct the details

Use the official portal and check which examination the file covers. A candidate might have saved separate proofs or notices for mid-year and year-end sittings. Use the document for the papers you are about to take. If the file cannot be downloaded, try the official account assistance or contact SEAB. Give the examination date and describe whether the problem is signing in, locating the file or opening it.

Once you have the proof, print it clearly. Check that the identification details, paper information and any schedule pages are legible. If you print away from home, collect every page and handle the file carefully because it contains personal information. Keep a copy you can find quickly if the printed one is misplaced again.

Confirm the venue and reporting instructions

Read the centre name and location from the actual document and current instructions. SEAB’s booklet explains that private candidates are not necessarily assigned to the centre closest to their mailing address. Use the assigned centre for the paper you will sit. If you have more than one venue or session, put each on a separate calendar line.

Check the route and the time you need to arrive. Keep the paper code beside the schedule. This is especially useful when a candidate has another paper on the same day or a different arrangement for a practical component. If a notice and the proof seem to conflict, ask SEAB which instructions apply.

If the exam is imminent and you still cannot print

Contact SEAB through its official channel and state the paper date and time at the start. Ask what to do and follow the instructions you receive. Keep preparing to meet the confirmed reporting time while you resolve the document question. If someone can help you print, send the file only to a trusted recipient and retrieve it promptly.

A screenshot on a phone can help you check details while you prepare. The 2026 secondary examination booklet specifies a hardcopy and the relevant identification document for attendance verification. Work from the current rules for your exam when packing.

Worked example

A private candidate cannot find the hardcopy the evening before an O-Level paper. They open the portal, locate the current proof and reprint it. The reprint shows that the exam centre is different from the school they remembered from an earlier paper. They update the route and put the proof and identification in the same folder.

They also check the next paper and leave a spare printout with their study materials. The next morning they follow the actual venue and reporting instructions rather than relying on their earlier memory.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use an old Entry Proof if the venue looks the same?

Use the current proof for your examination and paper. Confirm the centre, date and identification details on that document.

What if my identification number does not match?

Contact SEAB promptly and explain exactly which documents differ. Follow the official instructions rather than altering the proof yourself.

What should I bring with the hardcopy?

Follow the applicable exam-year booklet. SEAB’s 2026 secondary rules list the relevant NRIC, FIN or passport identification alongside the hardcopy proof for private candidates.
