If you are serving a Ministry of Education (MOE) Tuition Grant bond and start a job after graduating, check whether the employment meets the current bond requirements and submit an employment update in the Tuition Grant and Scholarships system. MOE’s briefing says only full-time employment after graduation is considered towards serving the bond. Confirm the employer and arrangement against MOE’s criteria, particularly if your contract or work location is unusual.
Save the actual start date, the employer’s legal name and the documents the portal requests. Keep the submission confirmation, check the official record and update it if your employer or arrangement changes. International graduates should also keep any work-pass formalities separate from the bond update.
- Check the job and employer against the current MOE criteria.
- Record the actual start date and legal employer name.
- Gather evidence requested by the employment update task.
- Submit through the official portal and check the result.
- Ask MOE how to report changes, gaps or work overseas.
Check who employs you and where you will work
Use the legal employer named in the contract. A brand name, a client’s name and the employer on the contract may differ. MOE’s briefing suggests checking through the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) when establishing whether a company is a Singapore entity. If you have more than one organisation involved, give MOE the actual employer and work arrangement and ask what applies.
If you will be based overseas, seconded or working for a branch, check the relevant MOE guidance or ask the Tuition Grant Section before counting the period. Give the legal employer, work location, dates and whether the arrangement is full time. Keep the answer with the contract.

Submit the employment update through the official system
Sign in to the Tuition Grant and Scholarships portal and find the employment update task. Use the exact fields and evidence the system requests. Check the employer name and dates before submitting. MOE’s portal guide distinguishes editing or saving a form from completing a task, so follow the final instructions and save proof of submission.
If you cannot access the account, use the official recovery process and check the email originally registered. The portal announcement gives instructions for existing recipients signing in to the newer platform. If a record appears missing or a previous update is unclear, use the Tuition Grant enquiry route and provide the information it asks for.

Keep a timeline if work changes
Record your start and end dates as confirmed by the employer. If you change jobs, take a break or are posted overseas, ask how to record the change. Keep employer documents for each period rather than assuming a start date for one job covers everything that follows. Check the portal or official response for how the update is reflected.
Permission to work and whether a period counts towards the grant bond are separate decisions. Follow the employer and Ministry of Manpower process for any required work authorisation. Follow MOE’s process for reporting the employment under the grant.

Worked example
A graduate accepts a job with a company whose public brand differs from the legal entity named in the contract. They check the employer identity and use the official record in the employment update. They save the date they actually start and the documents requested by MOE.
Later, the employer proposes an overseas assignment. Before counting that period towards the bond, the graduate asks MOE which rule applies and records its reply. They keep separate evidence for the original role, the proposed change and any work authorisation.

Frequently asked questions
Can my polytechnic internship count towards the bond?
MOE’s briefing says the bond considers full-time employment after graduation. Ask MOE about the actual arrangement if the start date is close to your completion date.
Does submitting the update settle how much of the bond I have served?
Keep the submission record and check how MOE records the employment. Ask for clarification if dates or periods are missing or if you are unsure what counts.
What if I have yet to find a job?
Use MOE’s current instructions for grant recipients and ask the Tuition Grant Section what updates apply to your situation. If you are an international graduate, check immigration dates separately.
