SEC 2027 Specimen Papers | How to Find the Right Sample for Your Subject

Three learners review open books together at a classroom table, with stacks of textbooks, stationery and a whiteboard in the bright room.

Start with SEAB’s 2027 syllabus list for your candidate type and the subject’s G1, G2 or G3 level. Match the subject code, then look at the specimen-paper column. Where SEAB posts a specimen for a revised syllabus, its listing says the online specimen is available for three years, including the year it was posted.

Use the specimen to understand the paper’s format, then check the syllabus for the assessment requirements. A specimen can show the type of task you may face. Its particular questions are examples.

  • Choose the school or private-candidate list.
  • Match the subject title, level and code.
  • Check the specimen-paper column and posting year.
  • Compare the sample with the current assessment format.

Find the exact sample

Read the row for the subject code and look at which paper numbers are available. A specimen for Paper 1 does not automatically show how Paper 2 works. If the row has no sample for your paper, start with the format in the syllabus and ask your school about suitable practice.

See the SEC subject code guide if you need help choosing the correct list.

Check whether the sample is complete

SEAB notes that some online specimens may omit material because of copyright restrictions. The page or file may describe the omitted material or point to a resource. Read any notes before treating the online file as a complete timed mock.

A student who finds a paper and a separate insert should check both before starting. If material is missing, use the available questions for targeted practice and confirm the full format from the syllabus.

Turn one specimen into useful practice

First read the instructions and mark which sections use different response types. Attempt one section, check how well you followed the instructions and choose one skill to practise again. Save a timed rehearsal for material that matches the intended component and timing.
