Primary Programme for Active Learning | Step-by-Step MOE Guides

Three primary students in matching blue pinafores work together over open books at a classroom table, with colourful stationery and lesson notes on a whiteboard.

Find your next learning step

Start with the difficulty closest to yours, then work through an example and try the practice independently.

Choose the Primary 1 or Primary 2 route to support your child's learning through activity, observation and reflection. Start with the school's current PAL experience and one question about what the child tried.

PAL is a programme within CCE for Primary 1 and 2. These independent eduKateSG guides offer original optional home activities. They do not establish a separate examined subject, a national activity list or a compulsory home portfolio.

STEP 1 OF 5

1. Primary 1: try, notice and describe

Back to contents

Read the Primary 1 PAL guide

Help the child describe an activity through words, a drawing or a demonstration. Try a manageable action, notice one feature and practise a clear arrangement for shared materials. An adult remains available to clarify the instructions.

The home drawing, rhythm and observation examples are optional practice. Follow the school's activity arrangements and adapt to the child's needs.

2. Primary 2: plan, cooperate and review

Read the Primary 2 PAL guide

Agree on roles, try a plan and compare what happened with the intention. Change one part when needed and ask how the choice affected a partner. The finished product provides something to discuss; its appearance does not measure all the learning.

Use the original shared-picture example as home practice, then transfer one useful habit to another familiar routine. Do not report an imagined activity as something the child completed.

STEP 3 OF 5

3. Choose a manageable reflection

Back to contents

Ask what the child tried, what they noticed and what they would change. Keep the response short and specific. Speaking or drawing may be useful unless the school requires a particular written format.

If the child cannot recall the activity, return another day rather than supply a success story. For recurring school difficulties, ask the teacher which action or language to practise.

4. Connect PAL with CCE and other learning

Visit the Primary CCE hub for the Primary 1–6 values-learning routes.

Return to all primary study guides to choose another subject or programme. Follow the route that matches current school learning; a home example does not replace the school's curriculum.

5. References and scope

Back to contents

Corporation Primary School's PAL explanation supports the programme scope and four activity domains. Specific projects on that page illustrate one school rather than requirements for all schools.

MOE's primary CCE syllabus is the related curriculum reference. Its direct download presented a verification screen during this batch. The guides do not claim a complete audit of level outcomes.

The series retains the separate later-stage Mathematics reference: Secondary 1 Mathematics tutor in Clementi: small-group tutorials. It is not a PAL syllabus source.
