Math OS Sensor Directory — Unified Almost-Code Instrument Panel (Registry-Clean) v0.2

PAGE-ID: EDK-DIR-MTH-SENSORS-PANEL-v0.2
Role: LAN.SensorDirectory + InstrumentPanel + AntiDrift
Purpose: make Math OS measurable so parents/students stop guessing and start repairing.
Binding: enforces “broken link” law from your Math approach page. (edukatesg.com)

0) Definition Lock

Math OS Sensor Directory := the instrument panel for Math OS.
It tracks whether the system is running by measuring the six places where math collapses:

  • Foundation fluency
  • Method selection
  • Representation
  • Error recurrence
  • Pace budget
  • Transfer under variation

1) Math OS Loop (what sensors attach to)

MTH.OS.Loop :=
Diagnose → Repair → Link Method → Variation → Timed Run → Review → Retest

Sensors are not “extra.” They are what makes the loop stable over time.

2) How to Use This Directory (Operator Rule)

Rule: Do not say “weak at math.”
Run the sensors, find the leak, then repair.

Reading rule:

  • If a sensor is red, stop expanding topics.
  • Repair until the sensor stabilises, then move forward.

3) The Six Core Sensors (Canonical)

SENSOR 1 — Foundation Fluency Sensor

SensorID: MTH-SEN-FOUND-FLUENCY
Measures: speed + cleanliness of micro-skills (ops, fractions, algebra manipulation, indices/surds, factorisation basics).
Failure signals: messy working, hesitation, slow steps, frequent algebra slips.

Bucket mapping: mostly B2 Manipulation, sometimes B1 Concept.

Recommended bindings:

  • MTH-*-Z0-FND-FLUENCY-P*

SENSOR 2 — Method Selection Sensor

SensorID: MTH-SEN-METHOD-SELECT
Measures: ability to choose the right method quickly based on signals.
Failure signals: “don’t know what to do,” random attempts, tries 3 methods before choosing.

Bucket mapping: B3 Method Selection.

Bindings:

  • MTH-*-Z1-MTHD-SIGNAL-P*

SENSOR 3 — Representation / Translation Sensor

SensorID: MTH-SEN-REP-ENCODE
Measures: converting word problems/diagrams into equations, models, constraints.
Failure signals: understands story but cannot set up; wrong variables; wrong constraints.

Bucket mapping: B4 Representation.

Bindings:

  • MTH-*-Z1-REP-MODEL-P*

SENSOR 4 — Error Pattern Recurrence Sensor

SensorID: MTH-SEN-ERROR-REPEAT
Measures: whether repair reduces repeated error types week-to-week.
Failure signals: same mistake appears ≥ 2 times/week; no downward trend.

Bucket mapping: any bucket, but indicates repair system failure.

Bindings:

  • MTH-*-Z2-RPR-ERRORFIX-P*

SENSOR 5 — Pace Budget / Timed Stability Sensor

SensorID: MTH-SEN-PACE-BUDGET
Measures: time per question type + end-of-paper collapse.
Failure signals: accurate untimed, collapses timed; leaves paper unfinished; panic pacing.

Bucket mapping: B6 Time/Pace + B5 Careless under pressure.

Bindings:

  • MTH-*-Z3-PACE-STABLE-P*

SENSOR 6 — Transfer / Variation Sensor

SensorID: MTH-SEN-TRANSFER-VAR
Measures: performance on unfamiliar variants and mixed sets.
Failure signals: perfect on drills, fails on mixed; freezes when form changes.

Bucket mapping: usually B3 or hidden B1 (concept fragile).

Bindings:

  • MTH-*-Z2-TRANSFER-VAR-P*

4) The “Math Gauge” (Optional scoreboard fed by sensors)

To mirror Vocabulary Gauge, publish a Math Gauge later; for now, this directory defines the minimum scoreboard:

  • Precision (accuracy rate on mixed set)
  • Bandwidth (how fast structure/method is recognised)
  • Speed (pace stability)
  • DriftRisk (careless spike under time)

5) Sensor-to-Action Routing Table (Fast Operator Decisions)

  • Foundation Fluency red → run Fluency Lab (micro-skill bursts)
  • Method Selection red → run Signal Lab (identify method without solving)
  • Representation red → run Encode Lab (variables + constraint translation)
  • Error Recurrence red → run Repair Lab (one-line rule + retest ≤ 7 days)
  • Pace Budget red → run Timed Mini-Paper + checking protocol
  • Transfer red → run Variation Ladder (V1→V4)

6) Failure Mode Trace (Instrumentation-Specific)

Trace ID: EDK-TRACE-MTH-NOINSTRUMENT-v0.2

No sensors
→ problems treated as “weak topics”
→ random practice
→ errors repeat
→ time pressure worsens
→ confidence collapses

Repair

install sensors
→ identify leak
→ targeted lab
→ retest
→ stable growth resumes
