This atlas defines 10 canonical NIT failure patterns that commonly appear before major systemic events (policy rupture, institutional bypass, kinetic escalation, mass mobilisation, legitimacy fracture).

Each pattern includes:

A repeatable language-to-actuation pathway where narrative structure tightens until off-ramps die.

1.2 Off-Ramp

Any socially acceptable, institutionally legitimate path that:

  • keeps options alive,
  • prevents coercive simplification.

4) Pattern Disambiguation Rules (v0.1)

When multiple patterns trigger, choose dominant driver by highest component:

  • IRM dominant → likely P03/P09
  • DEC dominant → likely P02/P08
  • TEF dominant → likely P05/P10
  • MOB dominant → likely P06
  • CD dominant → likely P07
  • LC dominant → likely P04
  • AC dominant → likely P01

5) Atlas Output Format (Publishable Weekly)

5.1 Pattern Table

For each week output:

  • Top 3 triggered patterns (by match score)
  • Lanes involved
  • Trigger reasons (which LF spiked)
  • Repair loop recommended

5.2 “Off-Ramp Inventory”

Always list:

  • 3 plausible off-ramps still alive (if any)
  • 1 off-ramp recently deleted (if detected)
  • 1 off-ramp that must be protected next

This keeps the sensing system from becoming doom-posting.

6) “Run This on Any LLM” Prompt Block (Atlas)

You are running the NIT Failure Atlas v0.1.
INPUT:
Lane-grouped text samples for this week + (optional) last week scores.
STEP 1: Score features in [0..1] per lane:
AC, DEC, IRM, CD, LC, MOB, TEF, Repair.
STEP 2: Compute NIT per lane:
NIT = IRM + 0.7*AC + 0.7*TEF + 0.6*MOB + 0.8*DEC − 0.8*Repair (clamp 0..1)
STEP 3: If last week exists, compute deltas Δ for each feature and ΔNIT.
STEP 4: Match patterns P01–P10 using their signatures:
- Identify which patterns are triggered strongly, moderately, weakly.
- Provide top 3 patterns with reasons.
STEP 5: Output:
A) Per-lane table of features + NIT + ΔNIT
B) Triggered patterns list (top 3) with lane attribution
C) Failure-mode trace (one line chain)

7) Canonical Closing Lock

NIT is crossed when narrative becomes self-sealing.
The atlas exists so that when the sensor fires, operators can say:

  • “Which pattern is this?”
  • “Which lanes are driving it?”
  • “Which off-ramps are dying?”
  • “What do we truncate?”
  • “What do we stitch back?”

That is how CivOS becomes Full HD.
