Singapore public holidays 2027 for families. All 11 gazetted holidays, the five long weekends, useful leave bridge days and the school off-in-lieu days that matter to parents.
Singapore has 11 public holidays in 2027.
Three fall on a Saturday. One falls on a Sunday. Five create long weekends.
For families with school-going children, the school calendar adds a few more closures.
This guide is useful for families who need to:
- plan leave and travel for 2027;
- find the long weekends;
- know when schools and student care centres are closed; or
- line up public holidays with the school holidays.
At eduKateSG, we plan lessons and revision around these dates, so students use long weekends well and still get proper rest.

The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) announced the 2027 public holidays on 18 June 2026.

The Five Long Weekends
- Friday 1 to Sunday 3 January: New Year’s Day
- Saturday 6 to Monday 8 February: Chinese New Year
- Friday 26 to Sunday 28 March: Good Friday
- Saturday 15 to Monday 17 May: Hari Raya Haji
- Saturday 7 to Monday 9 August: National Day
For school students, the Chinese New Year and National Day weekends are four days long. Schools are also closed on Tuesday 9 February and Tuesday 10 August.
Leave Bridge Days
Three public holidays fall mid-week. A day or two of leave turns them into longer breaks.
Vesak Day: Thursday 20 May
Take Friday 21 May for a four-day weekend. For MOE students, 21 May is a school day.
Deepavali: Thursday 28 October
Take Friday 29 October for a four-day weekend. For MOE students, 29 October is a school day, usually in a busy examination period.
Hari Raya Puasa: Wednesday 10 March
Taking Thursday 11 and Friday 12 March gives five days in a row. For MOE students, these are the last two days of Term I. The March school holidays begin on Saturday 13 March.
Public Holidays on a Saturday
Three public holidays fall on a Saturday: the first day of Chinese New Year (Saturday 6 February), Labour Day (Saturday 1 May) and Christmas Day (Saturday 25 December). There is no automatic Monday public holiday for a Saturday holiday. Monday 8 February is a public holiday because the second day of Chinese New Year falls on a Sunday.
For employees
MOM says that when a public holiday falls on a non-working day, such as a Saturday for many office workers, employees covered by the Employment Act should get either another day off or one extra day’s salary instead.
For schools
MOE has made Tuesday 9 February, Monday 3 May and Monday 27 December off-in-lieu days for schools. Schools, the General Office, Student Care Centres and KCare Centres are closed on those days.
Public Holidays and the School Calendar
- New Year’s Day falls before school starts on Monday 4 January.
- Chinese New Year: schools are closed from Saturday 6 to Tuesday 9 February.
- Hari Raya Puasa falls in the last week of Term I.
- Good Friday falls in the first week of Term II.
- Labour Day, Hari Raya Haji and Vesak Day fall in the last weeks of Term II.
- National Day is followed by a school holiday on Tuesday 10 August.
- Deepavali falls in Term IV, during the usual end-of-year examination season.
- Christmas falls in the year-end holidays, with Monday 27 December an off-in-lieu day for schools.
School closures that are not public holidays
- Tuesday 9 February, Monday 3 May and Monday 27 December (off-in-lieu days);
- Monday 5 July (Youth Day) and Tuesday 10 August (day after National Day);
- Friday 3 September (Teachers’ Day); and
- Friday 8 October (Children’s Day, primary schools only).
On these days, many parents are at work while children are at home. Plan childcare early.
See School Holidays 2027 Singapore: MOE Term Dates and Vacations for the full school calendar.
Planning Travel in 2027
- Long weekends and school vacations are the busiest travel periods. Book early.
- For Primary 6 and Secondary 4 students, keep trips short in the months before the PSLE and SEC papers.
- Take a light reading book on every trip. Reading keeps language skills active without feeling like homework.
The Festivals Behind the Holidays
Singapore’s public holidays mark the main festivals of its communities: Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Puasa, Hari Raya Haji, Vesak Day, Deepavali, Good Friday and Christmas, alongside New Year’s Day, Labour Day and National Day.
Each one is a good moment to talk with children about the traditions behind it, and to learn about neighbours and classmates.

- our centres are closed on public holidays;
- long weekends before major assessments are useful for one or two short review sessions; and
