May 2027 school calendar for Singapore families. Three days off school, DSA-Sec applications, the end of Term II and the start of the June holidays.
May is a month of short weeks.
Three days off school break up the school weeks. Term II ends on Friday 28 May. The June holidays begin the next day.
For Primary 6 families, May is also when DSA-Sec applications usually open.
This guide is useful for families who need to:
- plan around the May public holidays;
- apply for DSA-Sec;
- close Semester I well; or
- plan the June holidays before they start.
At eduKateSG, we help families plan June in May. A holiday planned in advance is a holiday used well.

Three Breaks in One Month
May 2027 has three weekday breaks from school:
- Monday 3 May, after Labour Day on Saturday 1 May;
- Monday 17 May, for Hari Raya Haji; and
- Thursday 20 May, for Vesak Day.
The first two create long weekends.
Short weeks are easy to lose. Keep the weekly revision rhythm going, even if each session is shorter.
DSA-Sec Applications
Direct School Admission lets Primary 6 students apply to secondary schools based on talents and achievements.
In 2026, applications were made online through the DSA-Sec Portal, free of charge, with up to three school choices per applicant.
Before applying
- confirm the student genuinely wants each school on the list;
- read each school’s selection criteria;
- prepare certificates and records; and
- note that selection activities, such as trials or interviews, usually follow in the middle of the year.
Two important rules
- Students still sit the PSLE.
- A student admitted through DSA-Sec does not take part in the Secondary 1 posting exercise.
Read the details on MOE: Direct School Admission (DSA-Sec).
Closing Semester I
Term II ends on Friday 28 May.
Many schools hold their last weighted assessments of the semester in May. Some issue a semester report.
Use the semester result well
- compare it with the end of Term I;
- note which subjects improved and which slipped; and
- pick two or three targets for the June holidays.
Planning the June Holidays Now
The June holidays run for four weeks, from Saturday 29 May to Sunday 27 June.
For Primary 6
This is the last long break before the PSLE. Orals usually come in August and written papers in late September.
For Secondary 4
This is the last long break before the SEC English and Mother Tongue written papers in September.
Under the SEC, there is no mid-year Mother Tongue paper. Mother Tongue has a single written sitting in September, alongside English.
For everyone else
Rest, repair one or two weak topics and read widely.
Early Admissions for Secondary 4
Some Secondary 4 students apply for early admission to ITE or a polytechnic based on aptitude and interest.
In 2026, ITE Early Admissions opened in May and the Polytechnic Early Admissions Exercise for secondary students opened in late June. MOE will confirm the 2027 windows.
A Simple Plan for May
Weeks 1 and 2
Keep the rhythm through the long weekend. For Primary 6, submit any DSA-Sec application.
Weeks 3 and 4
Prepare for the last weighted assessments of the semester.
Final days
Write a short June plan with the child: rest days, study days and outing days.
