December 2027 School Calendar Singapore | Secondary 1 Posting, Holiday Learning and Getting Ready for 2028

Small classroom group smiling and waving around open books at a table.

December 2027 school calendar for Singapore families. Secondary 1 posting results, Christmas, holiday learning and a calm plan for the 2028 school year.

December is the bridge to a new year.

There is no school, and there is no December results release this year. SEC results come in January 2028.

What remains is time: time to rest, time to repair and time to prepare.

This guide is useful for families who need to:

  • prepare for the Secondary 1 posting results;
  • use the holidays without overloading the child;
  • prepare a student for Primary 1, Primary 6, Secondary 1 or Secondary 4 in 2028; or
  • plan around the Christmas closures.

At eduKateSG, we help families turn December into a calm, useful start.

Secondary 1 Posting Results

The posting result tells each Primary 6 student which secondary school they will attend in 2028.

MOE announces the release date, usually in mid-to-late December. Results are available through the S1 Portal, and schools send next steps to parents through Parents Gateway.

After the result

  • complete the school’s online registration on time;
  • note the dates for books and uniforms;
  • check any offer to take a subject at a more demanding level; and
  • talk about the new school with confidence.

Christmas Closures

Christmas Day falls on Saturday 25 December. Monday 27 December is a designated day off-in-lieu for schools.

Schools, Student Care Centres and KCare Centres are closed that Monday. Families who use student care should plan ahead.

Getting Ready for a New Level in 2028

Starting Primary 1

These children are the first cohort registered under the revised Primary 1 Registration Framework.

  • build a simple morning routine;
  • read together every day; and
  • practise counting, measuring and simple money skills.

Starting Primary 6

PSLE year. Use December to repair the weakest topics in English, Mathematics and Science, then start the year with a clear plan.

Starting Secondary 1

  • revise fractions, ratio and percentage;
  • read widely; and
  • practise well-organised paragraphs.

See Secondary 1 Mathematics Tuition.

Starting Secondary 4

The second SEC year. English and Mother Tongue written papers come in September, other written papers from October.

  • list the three weakest topics in each subject;
  • review Secondary 3 Mathematics and Additional Mathematics; and
  • set a reading habit to support English.

Holiday Learning Without Overload

A good December plan is short and specific.

First half: Repair

Fix two or three topics that kept costing marks in 2027.

Second half: Prepare

Preview the first topics of 2028. Label books. Reset sleep times.

Every day

Read for pleasure. It builds vocabulary and focus for every subject.

For Mathematics ideas, read December School Holidays Maths Revision 2026.

How eduKateSG Helps in December

December consultations usually focus on:

  • reviewing 2027 results and end-of-year papers;
  • bridging into Primary 1, Secondary 1 or a national examination year; and
  • setting a clear plan for Term I of 2028.

Our 3-pax classes start where the student actually is, not where the syllabus assumes they are.

Class Details

Format: Premium 3-pax small-group tutorials

Levels: Primary 1 to Primary 6, and Secondary 1 to Secondary 4

Subjects: Primary English, Mathematics and Science; Secondary English, Mathematics and Additional Mathematics

Subject levels: G1, G2 and G3 support for secondary students, according to readiness and school programme

Duration: 1.5 hours weekly

Teaching approach:

  • diagnosis before teaching;
  • first-principles explanation;
  • guided and independent practice;
  • retrieval and mixed revision;
  • error analysis; and
  • alignment with school assessments and national examinations.

Limited trial lessons may occasionally be available when the 3-pax class configuration permits. The usual first step is a parent–student consultation.

What Parents Can Bring to the Consultation

Useful materials include:

  • recent test papers and weighted assessments;
  • the latest report book;
  • marked homework;
  • the school’s assessment schedule; and
  • examples of questions the student finds difficult.

We are not only looking at the score.

We are looking for patterns.
