Primary 1 Vocabulary OS Hub (Almost-Code)

Role: Z3 Hub (routes to the other 4 pillars + all word banks)
Primary Purpose: Convert “word list learning” → Lattice Learning + eduKate FENCE™ Learning (closed loop)

Definition Lock

Vocabulary (Primary 1) = reliable word retrieval + correct meaning + correct usage under classroom load (speaking, reading, writing).
Not vocabulary = seeing a word once, copying spellings, or “can recognise when shown”.

Master Rule:
If retrieval is not reliable, the child does not “have” the word.

System Lock: Primary 1 Vocabulary as a Lattice

Vocabulary Lattice = words are not a line; they are a network of:

  • Meaning-neighbours (synonyms, near-synonyms)
  • Opposites
  • Category families (animals, food, school, feelings)
  • Function families (action verbs, describing words)
  • Usage frames (sentence patterns)

Why lattice: A child remembers faster when each word has multiple binds (meaning + sound + picture + phrase + sentence + story use).

Lattice Coordinates (eduKate Almost-Code)

FENCE™ Insert (Learning Control)

FENCE™ (Primary 1 Vocabulary) = Fluency & Expression through Narration, Comprehension & Engineered sentences
Fence Rule: no new words without closing the loop:

INPUT → BIND → OUTPUT → FEEDBACK → REPAIR
(word) (lattice) (speech/writing) (checklist) (micro-drills)

Sensor Pack (Primary 1)

S0: Recognition Sensor (weak)

  • Child points to correct meaning when shown options.

S1: Retrieval Sensor (core)

  • Can say the word without prompts when asked “What’s this?” / “Describe it.”

S2: Usage Sensor (transfer)

  • Can use word in a correct simple sentence.

S3: Load Sensor (exam/classroom)

  • Can retrieve + use correctly while writing (not only speaking).

Pass Condition: S1 + S2 stable.
Promotion Condition: S3 stable.

Failure Modes (Top 6)

  1. Ghost Vocabulary: recognises but cannot recall (S0 only)
  2. Wrong Meaning Bind: word attached to wrong concept
  3. Single-Bind Memory: only spelling, no picture/meaning/usage
  4. No Phrase Bridge: cannot move Z0 → Z1
  5. Sentence Collapse: knows word but sentence breaks (Z2 weak)
  6. Load Drop: works in conversation, fails in writing (S3 fail)

Repair Loops (Micro-Protocols)

R1: Retrieval Snap

  • 10 seconds: picture cue → child says word → 2 repeats → stop.

R2: Meaning Rebind

  • child definition in 5–7 words + one real example + one “not example”.

R3: Phrase Bridge

  • attach 2 phrases per word (Z1) before any spelling worksheet.

R4: Engineered Sentence

  • one sentence pattern + swap one slot only (reduce load).

R5: Scene Output

  • 1 scene, 8 words, 6 sentences, 1 rewrite of the weakest sentence.
