Sixth Avenue MRT has Exits A and B. SBS Transit lists Guthrie House, Second Avenue Junction and Sixth Avenue Centre under Exit A, while Nanyang Girls’ High School is among the Exit B destinations. Start with the exact building or school you need, then select the exit.
The station’s lift route includes the pedestrian bridge. The operator lists a lift at Exit A between the concourse and bridge level, a lift at Exit B between the street and bridge level, and a lift between platform and concourse. Follow the full signed route when travelling with a wheelchair or pram.
Did you know that reaching the right MRT station can still leave several decisions before an appointment? Exit, road side, pedestrian route and building entrance all matter. At Sixth Avenue, a precise address and a little time for the final approach make the journey easier.
Choose your reading route
SECTION 1 OF 5
1. Use familiar landmarks carefully
The listed Exit A landmarks are useful for orientation. If you are visiting a particular tenant, save its unit and check its current address before setting off.
Do not treat a transport page’s landmark list as a live retail directory. A building name may help you navigate even when its occupants change. The business or school remains the authority for your actual appointment.
If you are meeting someone, choose a public point that both of you can identify. “Near Sixth Avenue” is less helpful than an exit letter and a named destination.
SECTION 2 OF 5
2. Understand the pedestrian-bridge lift sequence
A step-free route is a sequence, not a single lift symbol. Follow the signs through each level and allow time for the complete connection.
Keep the bridge route in mind when selecting your exit. An apparently short walk on a map may involve a different level or road crossing from the one you expected.
If a lift is unavailable or you are uncertain about the route, ask station staff for current guidance. Avoid improvising a difficult crossing because you feel late.
SECTION 3 OF 5
3. Plan a school or tuition appointment from the door backwards
For a school appointment, confirm the visitor gate and arrival procedure with the school. An MRT exit listing identifies the general direction; it does not authorise entry through a particular gate.
For tuition, obtain the provider’s precise address and unit before travelling. Allow for finding the entrance, reaching the correct floor and settling in, as well as the train journey.

SECTION 4 OF 5
4. Make collection and transfers clear
SBS Transit lists a taxi stand at Exit A, bus stops at both exits, and public toilets on the concourse near the Passenger Service Centre.
When arranging collection, agree on an appropriate designated point and tell the student exactly where to wait. A road name alone may not be enough for the person driving.
For a connecting bus, check the stop and direction, not just the service number. The journey home can use a different road side from the journey there.

5. Build a comfortable routine
For a regular school or lesson journey, try the route at the relevant time of day. Notice where you need extra time and choose a margin that makes arrival calm.
A student can gradually take responsibility for reading the exit signs, checking the address and explaining the return route. Keep the plan simple enough to remember without constant phone checking.
If you are planning a different Bukit Timah outing, our Beauty World MRT guide covers the mall and nature-reserve side of the neighbourhood. Choose the station by the destination you actually want.
