Tan Kah Kee MRT is a practical arrival point for a Bukit Timah visit when you know which landmark you are heading towards. A quick look at the exit directory can save an unnecessary detour after the train journey.
SBS Transit lists Coronation Plaza, Crown Centre and King’s Arcade under Exit A. Exit B serves the direction of landmarks including Nanyang Girls’ High School, National Junior College and Poh Ming Tse Temple.
The station’s lift connections use the pedestrian bridge level, so visitors needing a step-free journey should pay particular attention to that route. Here is how to turn the directory into a useful arrival plan.

SECTION 1 OF 5
1. Match your destination to an exit
Start with the exact destination address and compare it with the station directory. A landmark listed under an exit tells you which way to begin; it does not mean that the building is attached to the station.
For a shopping or food outing, our Coronation Shopping Plaza guide helps you plan the next stage.
| Exit | Examples from the operator’s directory |
|---|---|
| A | Coronation Plaza, Crown Centre, King’s Arcade |
| B | Nanyang Girls’ High School, National Junior College, Poh Ming Tse Temple |
SECTION 2 OF 5
2. Understand the bridge lift connection
The operator lists a lift at Exit A connecting the concourse with pedestrian bridge level, and a lift at Exit B connecting street and pedestrian bridge levels. There is also a lift between the concourse and platform.
Follow current lift signs or ask station staff to explain the sequence for your destination. Our recommendation is to allow extra time when travelling with a wheelchair, stroller or someone who prefers lifts.
SECTION 3 OF 5
3. Check the useful station facilities
SBS Transit lists bus stops and taxi stands at both exits, and concourse toilets near the Passenger Service Centre.
If meeting someone, agree on a named exit and a clear landmark rather than simply saying ‘outside the MRT’. A short message confirming which side you are on is easier than searching for each other after arrival.
SECTION 4 OF 5
4. Make a small neighbourhood plan
Our suggested outing is one main stop followed by one optional extra. That leaves room to browse, eat or take a break without making the visit feel like a race.
When visiting an institution or temple, check its own visitor arrangements before going. Being named on the station directory does not establish public access, opening hours or permission to enter.
SECTION 5 OF 5
5. Choose the next journey calmly
Check the current rail map and train direction before entering the platform. If you have added another stop, compare its exact address with nearby stations rather than automatically returning to the one you used on arrival.
For another Bukit Timah arrival point, see our Sixth Avenue MRT guide. Confirm current train timings with SBS Transit when planning an early or late journey.
