To request a review of PSLE results, submit the application and pay the appeal fee through your child’s primary school. SEAB says both steps must be completed within five working days from results release. Ask the school for the exact deadline, fee and payment instructions as soon as you are considering a review.
If your child is participating in Secondary 1 Posting, check the school-choice deadline separately. Ask your primary school how to handle submission while the review is pending. A review outcome can take up to six weeks from the appeal closing date, according to SEAB’s published FAQ.
- Contact your child’s primary school for the appeal instructions.
- Confirm the subject, application deadline and fee.
- Complete payment by the stated deadline.
- Keep a separate record of the Secondary 1 Posting steps.
Ask the school for the exact closing time
Start with the contact named in the primary school’s results-release instructions. Ask where to find the form or procedure, which payment method to use, and the date and time the school needs everything. The five-working-day rule gives you the window. The school can tell you the practical cutoff for your cohort.
Read the result slip with your child and identify the subject you want reviewed. Use the subject name as shown on the result slip. A query such as “We would like the school to advise us on a review of the PSLE Mathematics result” is easier to act on than a message saying the overall score was unexpected.
If an adult is travelling or unavailable, settle who will contact the school and complete payment. Save an acknowledgement or receipt, and confirm whether there are any remaining steps. SEAB says applications without timely payment will not be processed.

Decide what you want the review to resolve
A review is a formal request about an examination result. Before applying, write down the subject and why you want the formal check. Ask the school what information you will receive afterward and how it will communicate the outcome.
Parents often compare a result with school examinations or recent practice. Those are useful when talking about preparation and what the student expected. They give no reliable way to predict the outcome of a formal review. Make plans that can still work with the results your child currently holds.
Keep the conversation with your child brief and concrete. You might say, “We can ask the school about reviewing this subject today. We will also look at secondary schools that suit you with the result we have now.” This lets the student participate in the decisions without having to guess what the review will find.

Keep the Secondary 1 Posting decision moving
If your child is participating in Secondary 1 Posting, use the official instructions for the current cohort. Check the school-choice submission deadline, who will submit the choices, and how you will know the submission was received. Ask the primary school what to do if a review is pending and whom to contact if a result changes.
Build the school list around the information you have. Check the available Posting Group, school fit, commute, programmes and the school’s indicative past score range where relevant. Keep the application and review confirmations in separate places so one does not get mistaken for the other.
For example, a family may wish to review one subject but has a choice submission due sooner than the expected review outcome. They can contact the school about the review and follow the current posting instructions in parallel. Ask the school how any revised result would be handled in your child’s case.
For help with the choice itself, read the guide to PSLE scores, Posting Groups and school choice.

How you receive the review outcome
SEAB says the outcome is released through the school within six weeks of the closing date for appeals. Record the closing date and the school’s expected contact method. If you have not heard by the expected time, check with the school using your submission details.
If the result changes, ask what formal documentation the school will provide and which authority you should contact about any posting matter. If the result stays the same, your current school planning still gives your child a concrete next step.

Frequently asked questions
Can I submit the PSLE appeal directly to a private-candidate portal?
Use your child’s primary school. SEAB’s PSLE FAQ directs families to submit the application and make payment to the school.
Can I pay after I submit the form?
Follow the school’s payment instructions and complete payment by the deadline. SEAB says an application is not processed if payment arrives late.
Is the review deadline the same as the school-choice deadline?
Check each deadline independently. One concerns an examination result and the other concerns Secondary 1 Posting.
What if I need a copy of an older PSLE record?
Use the past exam results retrieval guide for older records.
