GCE Results for Private Candidates | How to View Results and Receive Your Certificate

Three learners review open books together at a classroom table, with stacks of textbooks, stationery and a whiteboard in the bright room.

GCE private candidates can view their results through SEAB’s Candidates Portal on results-release day. Use Singpass where applicable or the account created during registration if you are a non-Singpass holder. Check access before the release so you can resolve login problems early.

Receiving a certificate depends on meeting SEAB’s award requirements for your examination. If you qualify, the year-end guidance says the certificate is sent to the address you gave SEAB. Check the release instructions for your cohort and keep your registered address details available.

  • Confirm the release date for your examination and year.
  • Test access to the Candidates Portal.
  • Check the award criteria for your GCE level.
  • Check the mailing instructions and contact SEAB if a problem arises.

Before results day

Start with SEAB’s Important Dates for Candidates and check for the confirmed release announcement. The planning calendar can show a tentative window. Follow the notice for the exact release date and viewing period.

If you use Singpass, check that you can sign in. If you registered through a non-Singpass account, confirm that the account is active and that you can access the registered email address. Use the official recovery process if needed.

Confirm which sitting you are expecting. For an examination taken near the end of one calendar year, the result may be released in the next year. When contacting SEAB, identify the year you sat the examination.

Check whether a certificate will be issued

SEAB’s private-candidate certificate page lists these minimum grades for an award. N(T)-Level requires grade D or better in at least one subject. N(A)-Level requires grade 5 or better in at least one subject. O-Level requires grade 6 or better in at least one subject. A-Level requires grade E or better in at least one H1 or H2 subject.

Use the rule for your examination and refer to the explanatory notes for what is shown on its certificate. Certificate eligibility and eligibility for a course or institution are separate checks. For an application, verify the institution’s requirements and submission dates.

For example, an O-Level private candidate may meet the certificate threshold through one subject. A course the candidate wants to apply for may require a particular combination of grades. Check both requirements before assuming the course is available.

Where your certificate goes

SEAB’s year-end private-candidate guidance says eligible candidates’ certificates are mailed to their registered address within five working days from results release. Check the applicable cohort instructions and contact SEAB if you need to clarify an address or missing delivery.

If you moved after registration, raise the question promptly through the official contact. Provide the examination details and use the authorised channel for personal information. Keep any confirmation that SEAB gives you.

Check the certificate when you receive it. Compare your name with the name used for examination registration and review the examination and subject details. Contact SEAB promptly about an apparent error.

Use the right route for your next action

If you wish to request a formal review of a newly issued GCE grade, use the GCE results review guide and verify the deadline for that release.

If you lost an older certificate, see the past results retrieval guide. The service for a digitised historical result is separate from receiving a new year-end certificate.

If you sat a mid-year Mother Tongue component, check its own results instructions. This guide’s mailing information concerns the year-end release.
